736 Beverley Street, Winnipeg
Often when a family was about to emigrate to Canada, the husband/father would voyage first, getting somewhat established in their new country. Then the family would follow; perhaps a year or more later.
In the 1911 census for Winnipeg, Francis (Frank) John Cruickshank was 28 years old. He was listed as a lodger living at 734 Beverley Street. His wife and children are not yet with him. This census indicates his occupation is a Carpenter-works at house building. Winnipeg censuses were normally taken in June.
Other people living at 734 Beverley were: Andrew and Mary Keith (the owners), and their 2 young sons. Andrew was a carriage painter at a shop.
This 1 3/4 storey house was built in 1905
